Steamboat Springs School District Preschool Programs Earn Colorado Shines Level 4 Rating

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. — Preschool programs operated by the Steamboat Springs School District have earned a Colorado Shines Level 4 Quality Rating, a designation recognizing high-quality early childhood education programs across Colorado.

The district's preschool programs at Sleeping Giant School, Soda Creek Elementary School, and Strawberry Park Elementary School each achieved the Level 4 designation through Colorado Shines, the state's quality rating and improvement system for licensed early childhood programs.

A Level 4 rating indicates a program has been independently assessed and recognized as a high-quality program that exceeds basic licensing requirements and supports children's learning, development, health, and school readiness. Colorado Shines ratings range from Level 1 to Level 5.

"Early childhood education sets the foundation for success in kindergarten and beyond," said Superintendent Dr. Celine Wicks. “"This recognition reflects the dedication of our preschool staff and our commitment to providing high-quality learning experiences for our youngest students.”

To earn a Level 4 rating, programs undergo a comprehensive evaluation conducted by an independent assessor. The review examines several areas that contribute to positive outcomes for children and families, including staff qualifications, learning environments, family partnerships, leadership and administration, and child health and wellness.

"This designation reflects the dedication of our preschool staff, from teachers and paraprofessionals to our special service providers, who work every day to help our youngest students learn, grow, and thrive," said Kim Delaney, SSSD Preschool Director.

The Steamboat Springs School District offers preschool programming at Sleeping Giant School, Soda Creek Elementary School, and Strawberry Park Elementary School.
